The Challenge
Waitlists now stretch from months to years. Delays create real access risk — affecting health, time, and financial stability — yet this exposure is often overlooked in traditional planning.
The Approach
This course builds foundational system literacy, explaining how Canada’s healthcare system operates and where access breaks down before strategy or solutions are introduced.
The Student
Designed to complement existing industry credentials, the CHAP™ program is ideal for licensed advisors seeking a clear understanding of healthcare structure and access realities.
What You'll Gain
Healthcare System Literacy
Gain a practical understanding of how healthcare is structured, funded, and delivered in Canada. Learn how patients move through the system from referral to treatment.
Insight Into Access Gaps
Understand where delays most commonly occur across diagnostics, specialists, and treatment. Recognize why access breakdowns are becoming more frequent and consequential.
Planning Foundation
Establish the baseline knowledge required to incorporate healthcare access considerations into advisory conversations. Create the context needed for the advanced concepts covered in later courses.
Recognition & Governance
This course forms part of the CHAP™ designation program developed by the Institute of Certified Healthcare Access Planning™ (ICHAP™), the professional body advancing education and standards in Healthcare Access Planning in Canada.
Enrollment Path
Enrollment is immediate and completed online. Course 1 is the first of three required courses in the CHAP™ pathway and must be completed before progressing to subsequent courses. The CHAP™ designation and certificate are awarded upon successful completion of all three courses. Ongoing credential maintenance includes a short annual refresher.
How It’s Delivered
Delivered fully online through CarePath Education Group, an ICHAP™ authorized education provider. The program includes self-paced modules, knowledge checks, case studies, required readings, and a final evaluation. Printed materials are available upon request.
